cABINTEELY gaa

Dia dhaoibh gach duine go léir! Welcome everybody to the Cabinteely GAA & Camogie website. I’m delighted you have come to virtually visit us, and hope to see you in person soon!

Like many Dublin clubs, we formed in the context of an expanding young village population (in Cabinteely, Johnstown, Ballybrack and Loughlinstown) and the massive success of the Dublin gaelic football in the mid ‘70s and their followers Heffo’s Army.

We have always prided ourselves on our position as an affordable, family-oriented, community-based GAA club, catering for all types of players and backgrounds and from all walks of life, and having recommenced the juvenile section in 2018 I have been delighted to see the growth of our gaelic football, hurling and camogie teams, and also the successful commencement of Na Réaltaí (a free weekly fun activities session for children with additional needs).

Our ethos was well explained in an interview with the GAA journalistic legend who is Niall Scully which you can read more on here. Our Disability and Inclusion Officer Aoife also talked about our culture and approach in an interview with the Camogie Association as part of the recent “Tell Her Story” campaign which you can read here.

The fast-paced upwards progression of the club in recent years has been down to huge work by a dedicated and hard working club committee, and a number of sub committees off the pitch, and a wide range of experienced and enthusiastic coaches, helpers and volunteers. You can read more on our exec here.

We work closely with Foxrock Cabinteely (who cater for ladies’ football teams at all ages and levels from academy to adult) to ensure a “one stop shop” for gaelic games (gaelic football and hurling / camogie) in the area.

The club has a strong ethos of providing access to gaelic games for all, with a low cost membership model, ready access to affordable equipment, and an open door policy of access to all family, cultural and nationality backgrounds and ability levels.
